Meet our New Wyoming Coordinator!!
Ian McCreary grew up in Portland, Oregon, and was an avid fisherman. He spent many days growing up chasing trout and salmon across the state. Being on the river made him feel at home. After moving to Colorado for graduate school, he fell in love with fly fishing and the beauty of the rivers in the Rocky Mountains. After teaching for 5 years in Colorado and Wyoming, Ian took a break from education to start his own construction business and volunteer his time with his local fishing club. This volunteer work kick started his desire to do more to help preserve waters for trout and share his passion for learning on and off the water.
Ian hopes to bring his excitement for community building and love of the rivers to help all the chapters across the state of Wyoming. He understands the hard work and dedication it takes to try and conserve trout streams and is eager to help in any way he can. He knows that the actions of many will help ensure that the rivers across the state can be preserved for trout and future generations to enjoy.
As Ian finds his peace on the river, you can probably find him on his off time fishing or floating on his local water but he will probably have a trash bag in hand picking up any trash to ensure that the river banks remain clean. As Ian likes to say, “Trout don’t like ugly places,” and does his best to try and keep it that way.
