Raising Trout in the Classroom: A Multifaceted Learning Experience
The Trout in the Classroom (TIC) or Steelhead in the Classroom (SIC) program goes beyond science. It's a hands-on adventure that connects students to the world around them. Students raise trout from eggs to fingerlings in a classroom aquarium, fostering a deeper understanding of watersheds and their role in the environment. This program integrates Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) curriculums, making it a unique educational opportunity. The experience culminates (ends) with a memorable field trip, where students release their fish into a suitable habitat approved by local authorities.
